Specializing in scholarly, out-of-print, rare and unusual books in nearly all subject fields and languages, Hackenberg Booksellers currently has about 3,000 titles coming out of several former musicologists’ research libraries. We provide collection development assistance for libraries and individuals worldwide, and undertake professional appraisals of books and libraries for tax or insurance purposes. Owner Michael Hackenberg holds a Ph.D. in the history of the book and libraries from the University of California at Berkeley, and has been involved in scholarly bookselling since 1981. He is an active member of the Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association of America (ABAA) and of the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB).
The sampling of books on display here at BFX concentrates on mediaeval, Renaissance, baroque and early classical music and scores.
