Southern California-based Natur is a historical chamber ensemble specializing in music written prior to the 1800s. It consists of a multi-faceted group of professional singers and instrumentalists who are proficient on several instruments, including recorders, viola da gamba, and harpsichord. Formed in 2009, Natur combines each member’s talents and knowledge to create historically-informed performances. Their programs have included a range of styles from 13th-c. polytextual motets of the Montepellier Codex to the 16th-c. florid music of the Italian courts to the playful 17th-c. catches of English composers like Purcell and Eccles.
