Timbre Folk & Baroque in Berkeley is a sales and repair shop specializing in baroque and folk instruments such as acoustic guitars, mandolins, bagpipes and violins. We also carry rare instruments and antiques, offer appraisals and take instruments on consignment.
On display at BFX will be a sampling of lutes, violas da gambas, early guitars, baroque violins and viola, baroque bows, bagpipes, and a small virginal.
At the shop, we repair a wide variety of instruments including, violins, guitars, mandolins, ukuleles and more unusual instruments such as balalaikas, bagpipes and ouds. In addition to repairs, we build moraharpas and instruments in the mandolin family.
We offer lessons for beginning and intermediate guitar, violin and ukulele as well as all levels of mandolin and nyckelharpa.
