Opera Nova presents a program of music originating from various locations of musical activity on the Italian peninsula during the early seventeenth century. The music featured demonstrates the unique approaches of musical composition from several different composers, while also reflecting the full range of emotional expression characteristic of music from that period.

Opera Nova is an ensemble made up of several graduate students from the Historical Performance Institute at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Performing on violins, viols, dulcian, plucked instruments, and keyboards, Opera Nova is committed to the historical performance practice of music from seventeenth century Europe.
